Your Journey with AVHS

At AVHS, we understand that navigating the DVA system can be overwhelming. That’s why we have created a clear, five-phase journey to guide you through every step – from your initial contact with us to the completion of your assessments. This pathway is designed to give you confidence, clarity, and control. Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge and support you need to access the care and recognition you’ve earned through your service.

The 5-Phase Journey with AVHS

Intake & Engagement with AVHS

You have a conversation with a Veteran Support Officer (VSO) who explains how AVHS can help you and what information we need.

Initial Investigation - Clinical Appointments

  • You meet with a nurse and doctor to discuss your service history and how it caused your symptoms or injuries.
  • Eligibility for Provisional Access to Medical Treatment (PAMT) is reviewed.

Further Investigation - Analysis of Records

  • Our Medical Claims Analyst (MCA) team analyse your records.
  • A recall appointment is arranged with you to discuss what was found.
  • AVHS submit findings to the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) on your behalf and await their response.

Initial Liability (IL) Assessment

  • Our MCA team complete your Diagnostic Assessment (DA).
  • The DA is submitted to DVA.
  • Liability is determined.
  • Treatment can be arranged for accepted conditions.

Permanent Impairment (PI) Assessment

  • AVHS can assist you to complete your PI assessment once you have requested it from DVA.
  • Completed PI paperwork is sent to DVA.
  • PI is assessed by DVA resulting in allocation of impairment points or rating and applicable compensation.
